I am an assistant professor at Salem State University. My research focuses on the power of civic media for social change within marginalized populations. I also investigate the use of dissent in democratic participation for negotiation of political power and social change. I received my Ph.D. in Communication from the University of Oklahoma, and a M.A. in Communication and B.A. in Journalism from California State University, Sacramento. I am from Sacramento, Calif. and now live in Salem, Mass.
